About the Conference
Welcome to NIJ’s Virtual Conference on School Safety. The theme of our conference, Bridging Research to Practice to Safeguard Our Schools, reflects the conference purpose and NIJ’s mission. Through NIJ’s Comprehensive School Safety Initiative (NIJ’s Comprehensive School Safety Initiative | National Institute of Justice (ojp.gov)) and with funding from the STOP School Violence Act, NIJ has funded approximately 100 projects to improve the safety of our nation’s schools and students through rigorous research that produces practical knowledge. The conference will highlight these projects. Throughout this conference you will have an opportunity to listen, learn, and share with others who, just like you, play a key role in keeping our schools and students safe.
